Stronger Together – How Concrete Testing Impacts Your Project

Date & Time: Thursday Feb 12, 2026 at 11:00 am
Duration: 50 minutes
Location: Pegasus Room B
Registration: $50 plus hst

Description

The importance of proper concrete field testing cannot be overstated. Every step, from sampling and testing to handling and caring for the cylinders plays a crucial role in achieving consistent and accurate results. Even minor deviations from established testing standards can significantly affect data quality and, ultimately, the measured compressive strength. Non-compliance with standards often results in unreliable test results and impacts to project schedule and budget.
In most cases, discrepancies can be traced back to issues with cylinder handling, which may lead to costly project delays and budget impacts.

This presentation highlights the key principles of proper concrete cylinder care and demonstrates, through compressive strength testing examples, how variations in procedure can alter outcomes. Several critical areas will be examined, including consolidation, curing, storage, and transportation, to illustrate how adherence to standards ensures reliability and confidence in test results.
