Description

The cement and concrete industries have set an ambitious target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. As a significant stride towards this objective, the industry is fully endorsing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to measure and communicate our progress in reaching this goal. During the summer of 2022, Concrete Ontario, in collaboration with the National Research Council, introduced an Industry Average Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) designed specifically for ready-mixed concrete in Ontario. This initiative plays a pivotal role in our efforts to attain carbon reduction targets. The main emphasis of this session will be on the collaborative endeavors of the concrete industry in Ontario to engage with project owners, specifiers, and contractors in embracing low- carbon concrete solutions in construction projects across the province. The presentation will highlight the sample guideline documents created by the concrete industry to ease this adoption and will feature low-carbon specifications that can be effectively employed to achieve our carbon reduction objectives.
