Advancing Beyond Net-Zero Construction with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF)

Date & Time: Wednesday Feb 12, 2025 at 1:15 pm
Duration: 50 minutes
Location: Room A
Registration: $50 plus hst

Description

The Wellington East Business Centre represents Canada’s largest office building to pursue beyond net-zero standards. This four-story commercial structure integrates solar energy capture and advanced insulated concrete form (ICF) construction with low-carbon concrete. It is further enhanced by triple-pane fiberglass Low E Argon windows, geothermal heating and cooling systems, high-efficiency LED lighting with motion sensors where applicable, and a water recapture system. This presentation will emphasize the importance and advantages of combining ICF construction with low-carbon concrete to develop buildings resilient to the shifting demands of climate change.
